Lao American Writers Summit Recap 2016 (Video)

California knows how to party - as the saying goes in that Dr. Dre and Tupac song "California Love". We were very much treated to some Cali hospitality from all the Lao people we've met along the way starting at The Bay, Stockton, Dublin, Merced, Hollywood and of course San Diego, where we were part of the 3rd Lao American Writers Summit. It was a pleasure to see old friends, and make new acquaintances, including those who welcomed us into their homes and cooked for us like long lost family members. The #LaoWriters2016 Summit, through it's various workshops, panels and gallery exhibit (co-curated by us!), reinvigorated our creative juices, affirmed that Lao stories will get told, but it was in the shared testimonials from new attendees that their feelings of never knowing a community like ours existed until now - that never gets old. We're happy to have been a part of such a historic event in the Lao American Diaspora - although we wished we had more memory space on our camera to capture all the amazing things that took place.
